Project Calculator

Estimate how much material you need for common projects. These are guidelines; exact quantities depend on depth, compaction, and product type.

Gravel / stone (driveway or path)

For a 4″ depth: Length (ft) × Width (ft) × 0.33 ≈ cubic yards. Multiply by ~1.4 for tons of typical gravel.

Example: 20′ × 10′ × 0.33 ≈ 66 cubic feet ≈ 2.4 cubic yards.

Mulch (beds)

For 3″ depth: Length (ft) × Width (ft) × 0.25 ≈ cubic yards.

Example: 12′ × 8′ × 0.25 ≈ 24 cubic feet ≈ 0.9 cubic yards.

Topsoil (lawn or garden)

For 4–6″ depth, use length × width × (depth in feet). 1 cubic yard ≈ 27 cubic feet.
